1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using any Guard Hero product or service — including the EagleEye browser extension, OPi-one network device software, HomeDefender, and the guardhero.app website — you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our products or services.

2. Products and Services

Guard Hero offers the following products and services:

  • EagleEye — A free browser extension that blocks ads and trackers using AI-powered detection. Available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
  • OPi-one — A free, open-source software image for Raspberry Pi 4 that provides network-wide ad and tracker blocking. You are responsible for obtaining the required hardware.
  • HomeDefender — A plug-and-play home privacy device (coming soon). Terms will be updated upon release.

All Guard Hero software products are provided free of charge. Guard Hero does not guarantee continuous availability of downloads or services and reserves the right to update, modify, or discontinue any product at any time.

3. License

Guard Hero grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use our software products for personal, non-commercial purposes. Under this license you may not:

  • Redistribute or resell Guard Hero software or derivative works without prior written permission
  • Use Guard Hero software or branding for commercial purposes without a separate commercial agreement
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary components of our software beyond what is permitted by applicable law
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices

Open-source components included in Guard Hero products are governed by their respective open-source licenses (such as MIT, GPL, or Apache 2.0). Nothing in these Terms overrides those licenses.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Guard Hero products only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use our software to interfere with or disrupt networks, servers, or services
  • Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of our products
  • Use our products to engage in any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with Guard Hero or use our branding without permission

5. Privacy and Data

Your use of Guard Hero products is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Guard Hero products are designed to collect minimal data. We do not sell your personal information. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details on how data is handled.

6. Hardware and Third-Party Equipment

OPi-one and HomeDefender require third-party hardware (such as a Raspberry Pi 4) that is not sold or supplied by Guard Hero. You are solely responsible for purchasing, maintaining, and securing any required hardware. Guard Hero is not liable for any damage, data loss, or network issues arising from the use of our software on third-party hardware.

Configuration of your home router or network to work with Guard Hero products is your responsibility. Guard Hero provides setup guides for informational purposes only; results may vary depending on your hardware, ISP, and network configuration.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Guard Hero products are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Guard Hero expressly disclaims all warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Guard Hero does not warrant that its products will block all ads or trackers, be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected. Blocking effectiveness depends on many factors including browser version, website design, and blocklist coverage.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Guard Hero and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, any Guard Hero product, even if Guard Hero has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Guard Hero's total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product giving rise to the claim (which, for free products, is zero).

9. Intellectual Property

The Guard Hero name, logos, product names (EagleEye, OPi-one, HomeDefender), and website content are the intellectual property of Guard Hero and may not be used without prior written permission. Any feedback or suggestions you provide about our products may be used by Guard Hero without obligation or compensation to you.

10. Modifications to Terms and Services

Guard Hero reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Continued use of our products after changes to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. Guard Hero also reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any product or service at any time without notice.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of competent jurisdiction. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
