Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 11, 2026
Guard Hero is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle data across all Guard Hero products — including the EagleEye browser extension, OPi-one network device, and HomeDefender.
TL;DR
Guard Hero blocks ads and trackers locally on your device or network. We collect minimal, anonymized data only with your explicit consent. We never collect personally identifiable information (PII), browsing history, or sell your data to anyone.
Products Covered by This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all Guard Hero products and services:
- EagleEye — AI-powered browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
- OPi-one — Network-wide privacy device built on Raspberry Pi 4
- HomeDefender — Plug-and-play home privacy device (coming soon)
- guardhero.app — Our website and associated web properties
What We Collect
1. EagleEye Browser Extension — Local Storage Only
All data generated by EagleEye is stored locally on your device only and never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly opt in to telemetry:
- Blocked request counts — numbers only, never URLs or page content
- Blocked tracker domains — domain names only (e.g., "tracker.example.com"), not full URLs
- Session statistics — reset when your browser closes
- Your allowlist — sites where you have disabled blocking
- Your consent preference — whether you have enabled optional telemetry
2. OPi-one Network Device — Fully Local
OPi-one runs entirely on your own hardware at home. Guard Hero does not have access to your OPi-one device, its logs, or your network traffic. All blocking and processing happens locally on your Raspberry Pi 4. The only network requests OPi-one makes are:
- Downloading blocklist updates from public, open-source blocklist sources
- Standard DNS resolution traffic (which stays within your network)
3. Our Website (guardhero.app)
When you visit our website, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this only for security and to improve our site. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that profile you.
4. Optional Anonymized Telemetry (EagleEye — Opt-In Only)
If you choose to opt in to telemetry in EagleEye, we receive anonymized, aggregated blocking events. This data cannot be linked back to you. Specifically:
- Blocked tracker domain categories (not specific domains or URLs)
- Extension version and browser type (no device identifiers)
- Approximate block counts per session
Telemetry is disabled by default. You can enable or disable it at any time from the extension settings.
What We Never Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information
- Your browsing history or the full URLs of pages you visit
- The content of any web pages you view
- Your IP address (in any product or telemetry)
- Financial information or payment details
- Location data
Third-Party Services and Blocklists
Guard Hero products use publicly available, open-source blocklists to identify and block ads and trackers. These include EasyList, EasyPrivacy, and community-maintained lists. By using these lists, your device fetches updates from their servers periodically. Those servers may log standard request metadata (IP address, timestamp). Please refer to those projects' own privacy policies for details.
Guard Hero does not share any of your data with third parties for advertising, profiling, or commercial purposes.
Data Security
Since the majority of Guard Hero's processing happens locally on your own device, your data is protected by your own device's security. We follow security best practices in our extension and website code. If we ever become aware of a security breach, we will notify affected users promptly.
Your Rights
Because we do not collect personal data, most data subject rights (access, deletion, portability) are automatically satisfied — there is no personal data about you held by us to provide, correct, or delete. If you are located in the EU/EEA and believe we hold any personal data about you, you may contact us at the address below to exercise your GDPR rights.
You can delete all locally stored EagleEye data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage from your browser settings.
Children's Privacy
Guard Hero products are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our products after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
