Frequently Asked Questions About OPi-one
Does OPi-one work with any router?
Yes. OPi-one works with any router that lets you change the DNS server in its admin panel. You point your router's DNS to the Pi's IP address, and all devices on the network are automatically protected.
How long does OPi-one take to set up?
Most users complete setup in under 15 minutes: approximately 10 minutes to flash the 100MB image to an SD card and 5 minutes to update the router DNS setting.
What percentage of ads does OPi-one block by default?
OPi-one uses Pi-hole's DNS-level blocking, which blocks 10–30% of DNS queries on a typical home network with the default blocklist. Enabling additional community blocklists can raise this to 50% or more.
Does OPi-one require a cloud connection to work?
No. All blocking happens 100% locally on your Raspberry Pi 4. OPi-one works without an internet connection for its core blocking features. Blocklist updates do require internet access.
Can OPi-one protect phones and smart TVs?
Yes. Because OPi-one operates at the DNS level on your router, every device on your network is protected - phones, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and IoT devices - without installing any software on them.
